No matter how we choose to give back to our world, volunteer service is a duty and honor bestowed upon us all. By freely donating time, expertise, money, or material resources, YOU can make the world a better place.

In Volunteering for Jamaica, Donald G. Morgan documents the many ways that
volunteering can benefit a community--done locally or abroad--and how his own efforts have benefitted Jamaica. By giving an account of his service on behalf of Jamaica, Morgan appeals to all Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica to give voluntary service and to appreciate the value of voluntary service in nation building.

About the Author

Donald G. Morgan is a patriotic citizen and retired Sociology associate professor with a strong commitment to the independence and economic development of Jamaica. For much of his adult life, he has been involved in voluntary work in the interest of his country.

Morgan's voluntary work is not confined to Jamaica. In the U.S., he founded the Social Work Department at Bowie State University in Maryland. He encouraged and organized his faculty and students to volunteer their service by providing social and economic needs to the Huntington community adjacent to the campus. Bringing together multiple services at one central location, the Huntington Community Service Center provides legal aid, a well-baby clinic, juvenile and adult counseling, and adult education classes.

For his services to the people of Maryland, Morgan received a special
commendation from the late Honorable William Donald Schafer, former governor of the state.
