ASSISTANT MANAGER | FULL-TIME @ NATIONAL HARBOR
The assistant manager position assists in the execution, leadership, and oversight of bookstore operations. They work with the store manager to train, supervise, develop and motivate team members. Additionally, the assistant manager will partner with the store manager in executing strategic and operational plans to create a profitable, efficient, customer-centric, and exciting retail experience, which includes direct oversight of the cafe.

Requirements
Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent with 2-5 years of experience in the field or a related area.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and management skills
- Has the ability to spend the majority of their time on the selling floor, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, climbing)
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Thirty-five to Forty hours a week is required
Responsibilities
- Execute initiatives, drive operational standards, and business results as set by store owners, with direct oversight of the cafe.
- Ensures effective team performance while managing a team of up to 6 individuals. Develops and promotes a team environment and acts as a leader within the store, providing training, coaching, and talent development where necessary.
- Develop authentic relationships with bookstore guests. Assess their needs, make personalized product recommendations, and maintain the MahoganyBooks literary experience.
- Maintain the spirit of ownership by demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, accountability, and appreciation for our guests
- Provide insightful feedback regarding the needs, wants, and experiences of our team and customers.
- Share knowledge and enthusiasm about our products, services, promotions, as well as, provide a personalized experience to multiple customers at the same time.

*Barista experience preferred but not required
Compensation: This is a paid, salary position with paid-time off, sick leave, health insurance, and a parking stipend.
