Become a Content Creator for MahoganyBooks

MahoganyBooks is seeking experienced writers to contribute content to its online blog platform. As a content creator, you will create book reviews, author interviews as well as publish original content that uses literature to discuss, debate or analyze important issues impacting African Americans, i.e. social justice, politics, economics, family life, spirituality, and personal development. The goal of our content creators is to provide a unique point of view on the import and impact of books featured on across our platforms. 

Who we are looking for: 

We are not looking for the typical academic or commercial copywriter. We are looking for writers with a powerful story and unique experience and point-of-view to share with the world. We are looking for writers, who are already in the business of content creation and are looking for a new platform to share their message. We are also looking for writers seeking an opportunity to make a difference through their gift of writing. Lastly, we want writers who have found their own voice and are now interested provoking a conversation regarding issues that empower, challenge, and activates readers. 

As a MahoganyBooks Content Creator, you will be expected to have and embody the following qualities:

  • Strong understanding of the African American literary world
  • An existing portfolio of content, i.e. personal blog, published articles, social media content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion about issues that directly affect and elevate communities of color
  • Social media savvy and experienced in distributing content on platforms such as WordPress, blogger, square space and vlogs
