Bookstore Manager
This position executes and provides leadership and oversight for all facets of bookstore operations including hiring, training, supervising, developing and motivating team members; preparing and executing store operating plans; maintaining a high-level of customer service throughout the store; delivering on General Merchandise expectations; demonstrating expert-level knowledge of MahoganyBooks systems and strategies; and completing other necessary store activities as needed. Effectively executes company programs and initiatives. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedure.
Requirements
Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent with 2-5 years of experience in the field or a related area.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and management skills
- Has the ability to spend the majority of their time on the selling floor, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, climbing)
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and at some offsite events. Forty hours a week is required
Responsibilities
- Execute initiatives, drive operational standards, and business results as set by store owners.
- Ensures effective team performance while managing a team of up to 8 individuals. Develops and promotes a team environment and acts as a leader within the store to all staff levels, providing training, coaching, and talent development where necessary.
- Develop authentic relationships with bookstore guests. Assess their needs, make personalized product recommendations, and maintain the MahoganyBooks literary experience.
- Maintain the spirit of ownership by demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, accountability, and appreciation for our guests
- Provide insightful feedback regarding the needs, wants, and experiences of our customers.
- Share knowledge and enthusiasm about our products, services, promotions, as well as, provide a personalized experience to multiple customers at the same time.

Compensation: This is a paid, hourly position.
